Readathon 2016 launched from the top of Mount Kilimanjaro!

As a parent of a past A.H.A.V.A. student, and the sister of A.H.A.V.A. founder, Rachel Cohen Yeshurun launched A.H.A.V.A.'s Readathon 2016 from the very top of Africa's highest mountain! Reaching Mt. Kilimanjaro's summit was a personal marathon for her, and she wishes all of our participants as exhilarating an experience with the Readathon! When asked what enabled her to reach the summit, Rachel said: "Determination".

Well done Rachel and thank you for our highest launch yet! Best of luck and lots of determination for all of our Readers!

This is the 11th year that A.H.A.V.A. has run its Readathon open to children in the Ma'aleh Adumim area. Children from 18 local schools eagerly await this annual event. Although it is difficult to read in a foreign language, some 200 schoolchildren read over 2000 books in the course of the 5 week Readathon. At the April 7th Awards Ceremony prizes provided by local businesses will be awarded to all readers!

The Readathon is sponsored by A.H.A.V.A., and local businesses Janis Design, the Municipality of Maaleh Adumim, Re/Max, Nof Hayarden Hall, Burgers Bar, Machbeset Levanon and Bank Hapoalim amongst others.
