A.H.A.V.A.'s Academic Fair 2015

Organizing the Academic Fair is always a lot of work. There are a lot of small details to take care of: Bringing the Reading Logs; Organizing the Treasure Hunt; The Writing Exhibition and deciding on the winners; Registration and contracts; Creating the Best of A.H.A.V.A. booklets; Certificates of Excellence; Graduation Certificates for our graduating class; A guest speaker. Most importantly, collecting all the projects and creative work our students have done over the past year and displaying at the Academic Fair. And, of course, bringing ice cream for everyone.

The fun begins at 4:15, when the first of parents and students (and grandparents and siblings) enter the Academic Fair. There is a buzz of excitement as students show off their work (and peek to see how many stars and comments they have received so far). This year was no different. We made an album of some of the works here. Pictures and videos from the Academic Fair courtsey of David Ben Avraham can be seen here.

Below is a taste of a some of the projects:

This year's writing theme was about Unity. The winning class for the best stories, poster, questions and thank you notes for our speaker was the 3rd-6th grade class Maaleh Adumim. Their poster is epitomizes unity as each student drew part of the picture to make a whole. Check out their explanation for their poster here.

The Treasure Hunt was a great success.

Naomi, our guest speaker is alone in the country having made Aliyah this past year. She is doing National Service. She spoke to us about her feelings regarding Aliyah and joining the State of Israel. The children were enthralled and asked her questions. Our younger ones made a paper chain of all their names representing unity, as a gift to her.

To open our closing ceremonies, as every year, our Kindergarten class sang the ABC:

The Grand Finale - our hardworking students, siblings, parents, and guests enjoyed multi flavoured ice cream complete with sprinkles and syrup!

Have a great summer everyone! Fill in the Reading Logs for prizes, and don't forget to register for next year.
